Lenny Carlson - Pool Deck Project
Summer 2005

Here’s a picture showing the underside of the framework. Check local building codes about the use of joist hangers and corner brackets. I had to use them per code but I would have used them either way because I believe the add a lot more strength.   A close up of one of the joist hangers.

Another joist hanger….don’t know why 2 pictures but anyway…   A view showing how the lower retaining wall comes into play.

A little better picture of the previous photo.   ¾’s of the circle is complete. Notice the string line on the right side? We decided we wanted a bigger top deck so we squared out the SE corner of the deck for a possible deck bar or additional storage to be determined later.

The 1st modified deck section for the new corner. A little planning must take place to get the angles to work correctly. By the way we actually modified the whole circular portion of the top deck. We made the depth of each section wider than the plan as noticed by the 2nd lateral brace instead of just one as shown in the plans.   Slowly closing the gap…..

.The framework for the circle is complete. It is now June 18th, 2005   Just another picture of the finished framework before the sun goes down. The plywood on the frame is just so the kids and supervisor can get to the pool.
