Lenny Carlson - Pool Deck Project
Summer 2005

The next few pictures are just showing some of the cross bracing we put on. If up to this point you think your deck is not stable wait until the bracing is on. Now it’s sturdy.   Framework / bracing picture

Framework / bracing picture   This is the closing section. Notice the gap, .this did not turn out as I planned but, it also was not a big deal. I just cut shims to fill the gap and screwed the sections together. It is just as strong and the gap will not be noticed after the deck boards are on. It takes very small inaccuracies to create a small problem but its wood and can always be modified to work.

Facing south showing the completed deck frame work. You will see my ATV in a fair amount of the pictures. I hand picked all of the wood and brought it home in sections. I myself don't like getting a delivery to my house with all the wood pre-selected. It seems you spend more time returning wood and getting better quality pieces. I used the ATV and a small trailer to bring the wood from my driveway down below to my back yard. A definite life saver.   A wider view of the last picture and we're ready to start decking.

Ok, it’s been a hot summer so far so it's time to take a small break. We bought a set of walk in steps instead of the typical ladder which makes it easier for all to get in and out. We put down the center portion of 4 sections of the deck, set in the stairs and jumped in with a cold one.   A wider view of the last picture.
