Hiding The Dek-Block® Piers

Add a Facia Board to Your Deck

You can hide the front row of Dek-Block® piers by moving the piers and the outside support board 7-1/2" back toward the next row. Add a new outside "facia" board that is the same length as the support board. Use 6" - 2"x6" boards to connect the facia to the support board.

Remember, you will need to add one additional support board and the material for the blocking to your material list.

Landscaping:

Adding small shrubs, bushes or flowers around the perimeter of the deck is a nice touch when trying to hide the piers. It will also eliminate the need for trimming grass around the deck's edge.

Begin with removing the top layer of grass. Place stone, plastic or cement edging around the outside of the area. Next, apply a landscaping fabric over the exposed surface. Then place the plantings around the deck and finish with a mulch.
